Mountain Walking

Are you like me? Do you live somewhere and very rarely spend time out at places of interest near to home?

I've lived in Wales for about 7 years and never spent time walking the mountains. Isn't that crazy?

I am only a few miles from the border of the beautiful Snowdonia national park so yesterday I changed all that. I went for a walk!

Joined by three of my young friends we climbed a mountain called Meol Siabod. It took about 5 hours from start to finish but what a wonderful day we had. It only took about half an hour to drive from the fishery to the car park at the base of the mountain, on the A5 just before reaching Capel Curig. Then at first a gentle walk through the lower part, stopping to bath hot feet in two different lakes half way up. Then a very hard climb up a rocky ridge to reach the summit at 872m. The weather was very hot and the view out of this world.

The route down was easy and took us through wooded areas before reaching the river where we couldn't resist a swim.

So it was very worthwhile and I'm sure will be followed by more walks.

Snowdonia National Park

Hi there

My name is Nick and one of my passions in life is travel. So here I am starting a new blog to share my experiences and hopefully encourage you to get up off of your sofa and get out there travelling!

I am 48 years old and live in beautiful North Wales, only a few miles from Snowdonia National Park. Currently running a trout fishery called Dragonfly Fishery. You might want to take a look at my other blog www.dragonflyfishery.blogspot.com it's on google the same as this.

Looking back through my life I think my love for travelling started through Scouting where I gained a lot of confidence, ability to look after myself and to cope with most situations in the great outdoors. By the time I was in my early twenties having done a lot around the UK I was looking for new adventures and that's when my travels started.
